Commissions, 1774.

Two commissions, both dated August 17, 1778, issued and signed by Haldimand in his capacity as British governor of Canada, and written in English and French. Each commission confirms a Menominee Indian, the first Chawanon and the second Chigadheaugimas, in his rank as 'Grand Chief', and orders all Indians and British alike to treat him as such.
